  Tried this twice within a month- once for lunch and second time for dinner. Both experiences were awesome and well deserving of a 5 stars rating.
  
  Their sashimi is extremely fresh and melts instantly upon my first bite. Im a big fan of soft and warm rice to go with my nigiri, so i feel like thats one thing they can work on. It was still good rice but it wouldve been more complimentary if the rice was softer. I wont ding them on that but anyway!
  
  We did not do omakase but instead just ordered a shit load of things we liked and we went to sushi heaven. Really great value and would come again anyday!

  What's the saying? "It's not what you say, but how you make people feel"? This place, after 29+ years of being a regular customer here and never once really being warm and welcoming, finally did the unthinkable: asked me to move to another table so that a larger party could be accommodated.
  
  Over the years I persisted and returned to this place because they have some good food and it's on my path of frequent errands in Rockridge (and why I give it 2 stars still).
  
  I've resolved not to return. In my entire 59 years, including 3 where I worked as a waitress in an upscale Japanese-French fusion restaurant in North Beach, I have never been asked, nor asked a customer, to move to a different table. I had just been served my lunch! I mean, what could I do? Be difficult and say no? Or go with it and wonder how the waitress could ask something so demeaning?? Either way, I lost my appetite for this place and won't be returning.

  Unfortunately not satisfied due to the price point. All the dish portions were small for an unjustifiable dollar amount. We ordered salmon, wild sockeye, fatty tuna, tamago nigiris, a roll, agedashi tofu, and a black cod. The bill turned out to be $100 plus tip.
  
  Though, the sushi chef was attentive and helped us flag the hustling waitresses, which i'm giving an extra star for.

  Was in the mood for some fresh nigiri tonight. Uzen delivers. Great spot! Agree with all other reviewers the sushi is sooo fresh! Sit at the bar. Chef is very cool. 1st time visiting will definitely be back! Thanks for turning us on to this spot fellow reviewers!

  A small modern sushi and udon place located in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland. The interior is nice and simple. I had their Uzen Udon - which included chicken, shitake mushrooms, vegetable tempura (shrimp tempura on the side). The udon tasted pretty light and portion was just the right amount for lunch. The service here was pretty friendly and quick.  Overall,  it was a good experience.
